WASHINGTON (Gray DC) On the heels of the U.S. recognizing Juan Guaido's claim to the Venezuelan presidency, Sen. Rick Scott said he would like to see a peaceful transition of power soon to Guaido.
Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) says he hopes Venezuela has a peaceful transition of power in the next month.
Scott said he believes Maduro is not the legitimate president
Scott went to the White House on Tuesday this week to recognize Guaido as the President of Venezuela. He said he told President Trump to do everything he can to get Maduro to step aside to support freedom and democracy in Latin America.
President Nicolas Maduro broke diplomatic ties with the U.S. on Wednesday and ordered all American diplomats to get out of the country within 72 hours. Washington said it would ignore the order.
