Louisiana lawmakers react to Gov. John Bel Edwards’ victory

Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) says he believes in the will of the people after Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards defeated Republican Eddie Rispone Saturday to keep himself in the governor's mansion.

Cassidy commends Rispone for being gracious in defeat and says he looks forward to continuing to work with Edwards on things like shoreline restoration.

Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) also says he plans to call the governor to congratulate him. He says this campaign showed the ugly side of politics, and if anything came out of this race he says it is an example of how not to run a campaign.
