Scathing Congressional report released on historic Equifax data breach

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) -- This week, the House Oversight committee released a scathing report on the historic Equifax data breach last year that exposed sensitive information of 148 million consumers

Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX), who oversees a key House panel on these issues, says the data breach was “entirely preventable”. He says the company did not take basic steps to protect information, the IT systems in place at the time of the exposure were outdated and insufficient, and the response from the company was poor.

The full Congressional report is here and the investigation lasted 14 months: https://oversight.house.gov/report/committee-releases-report-revealing-new-information-on-equifax-data-breach/
