Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL) says new committee position will benefit district

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) -- Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-IL) will serve on three subcommittees in the House Committee on Appropriations:

- Defense
- Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies
- Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies

Bustos said her role on those subcommittees will benefit her district.

She said, “We want to make sure that the Rock Island Arsenal is always viable, that we a growing that we are not shrinking, and those kinds of decisions go through that committee.”

Bustos also said, “Aerospace manufacturing and contractors who do work with military, those are major economic drivers in Rockford. And so, I will be on the subcommittee that makes those initial decisions on how we spend those dollars that go to defense contractors. So very very important to our overall economy in Rockford and the region at large.”
