WASHINGTON (Gray DC) -- The Odessa Police Department is being represented in Washington, D.C. during Police Week.
Odessa PD Sergeant Missie Butts says this is the first time the department is being represented in 11 years.
She said, "11 years ago we lost four [sic] three of our own, so it is our way to give back what was given to us.”
This vigil is just one of several large events in Washington to honor law enforcement members.
Sunday's vigil included a speech from Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
On Tuesday, thousands are expected on the lawn of the Capitol as names of fallen officers will be read at the National Peace Officers' Memorial Service.
President Donald Trump is expected to attend that event.
