Nebraska lawmakers discuss potential impact of newly-passed Farm Bill

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) -- A new five-year Farm Bill is now one step away from becoming law.

Wednesday afternoon, the House of Representatives voted 369-47 to send the bill to President Donald Trump's desk.

Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE) said, “The bill is fundamentally the same Farm Bill.”

Fortenberry said the meat of this bill, programs that protect farmers from wild rides in markets, will feel the same to many of the Nebraskans who help feed the world.

The original Farm Bill deadline was back in September, but many of the essential programs were not disrupted.
