Zeke is working for Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), who also spent time growing up in Fairbanks. The senator takes on teams of Alaska interns each summer to help with administrative work, or to simply follow her around all day and see the inner-workings of the U.S. Senate.

Zeke says he hopes to be a leader in Fairbanks one day. For now he is just happy to make an impact on Capitol Hill.

"Working here was kind of heartening just to see how much thought was put into everything. Like every decision made, even just in administrative stuff," said Schnabel.

"It’s an opportunity to grow and mature and to do so in our nation’s capital where every night can be another growth adventure," said Murkowski.

Zeke is in the first crop of interns this summer. The next group starts in July.
