Mississippi lawmakers on opposite sides of "Equality Act" debate

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) -- The House passed legislation Friday that federally protects sexual orientation and gender identity. The bill passed 236-173, and Mississippi lawmakers were on both sides of the decision.

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) voted yes on the legislation because he believes all Americans, regardless of race, sex, identity, deserve federal protection.
