It’s been one year since the Trump administration launched the Pledge to America’s Workers, an initiative that encourages companies to invest in workers through education and training

Michigan's Calumet Electronics engineer Audra Thurston was at the White House today for the pledge’s first anniversary celebration.

But Thurston wasn’t just an attendee, she was also one of the speakers.

Our D.C. bureau caught up with Thurston before the event.

“I’m very excited to represent Calumet Electronics and represent all the efforts we’ve been doing since the president’s pledge," Thurston said. "I have found when I’ve been given the chance to continue my education and further my training, it makes me a lot more passionate and excited about my job.”

Thurston says besides her position as a process engineer, she helps with Calumet’s internship program.
