Former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper talked to a group of people at the National Press Club in D.C. about the platform for his 2020 campaign. Hickenlooper discussed how he would tackle climate change, stimulate business and make healthcare more affordable. He wants to see Colorado’s birth control program applied across the nation—making sure all women have access to contraception like IUDs and implants.
“I look at a woman’s right to control what happens to her body as being inalienable—in other words, that’s a right that government should not take away," he said.
We have seen that by providing this long-acting reversible contraception an allowing young women to have control of when they’re going to have a child transforms their lives," said Hickenlooper.
Hickenlooper is waiting to hear if he made the cut for the Democratic presidential debates in Miami at the end of the month, but the list of participating candidates is not finalized yet.
