Rep. Steil introduced the “Expanding Investment in Small Businesses Act of 2019” on May 30. Steil said the bill is meant to do two things: allow people to invest in small businesses and give small businesses access to capital to help grow their businesses within their community.
The bill has one Republican cosponsor, Ohio Representative Steve Stivers. Steil said he has received support from colleagues across the aisle and hopes the bill will pass in the Democratic House.
“In addition to working on the really big issues that are out there, we need to find opportunities where Democrats and Republicans can come together, address nonpartisan issues and find ways to get things across the line and get work done on behalf of the American people.” Rep Steil said.
If the bill passes through the House, it will be Rep. Steil’s first piece of legislation to move on to a vote in the Senate.
