WASHINGTON (Gray DC) -- Colorado Springs is one of the hottest housing markets in the country.
A new list, released by realtor.com, ranks the 80922 zip code seventh out of 32,000.
“We have a lot of interest from buyers shopping in the area," said realtor.com chief economist Danielle Hale. "It’s close to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, it’s not too far from the Air Force Academy, and also Peterson Air Force base. So there are a lot of amenities in the area that are attracting people.”
When putting together this year's list, experts considered income, how quickly houses sold after being listed, and how strong the market is for 25 to 34 years old.
“Millennials are really important to the housing market, and they are growing in importance," said Hale.
Colorado Springs made the list last year too, coming in a few slots higher. Hale says an area being on the list in consecutive years means buyer demand is high.
“That tells you there is a lot of interest in those areas, and maybe the market is having difficulty meeting that buyer interest," she said.
