Tuesday evening the members celebrated Columbia's designation by handing out bags of Adluh brand grits to people attending the conference from other parts of the country.
ADC President Bill Parry was asked why Columbia was chosen and he said, “Because of the great amount of support the community provides to the installation.”
Columbia, South Carolina was one of five communities honored as a 2019 “Great American Defense Community.”
The group says the goal is to give cities around the country ideas on how to improve quality of life for military members, their families, and veterans.
