WASHINGTON (Gray DC) -- Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) announced Wednesday night he tested positive for COVID-19.

His office released the following statement: “Earlier this evening, I learned that I have tested positive for COVID-19. I will be taking all necessary precautions, as directed by the House Physician, including quarantining through the Christmas holiday. Thankfully, I feel fine and do not have any symptoms. It is so important that we all do our part to help prevent the spread of this virus.”

Earlier in the day, the congressman delivered a speech from the House floor in Washington about Operation Warp Speed and the break-throughs with a vaccine to combat the virus.

Wilson, 73, is among more than 40 lawmakers in Congress who have either tested positive for the virus or been presumed positive for COVID-19.
