Meet Nebraska’s Small Business Person of the Year
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Rakesh Srivastava, founder of Innovative Prosthetics & Orthotics in Hastings, has been named Nebraska’s Small Business Person of the Year.
Originally from India, Srivastava received his degree at National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research. In 1997, he moved to United States and attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney for Grad School before becoming an American Board Certified Prosthetists and Orthotist.
“You know it’s a passion to me; more than a business,” he said.
Srivastava says his life was changed forever when he lost his leg in a childhood accident.
Now, he says, he is making it his life’s work to design and fit artificial limbs to patients all across the state.
“When I started to go the prosthetic clinic, that’s when I started to see how it makes a difference in other people’s lives,” he said. “When I went to college, I said that’s what I want to do; I want to go to prosthetic and orthotic school.”
Each year, the Small Business Administration elevates the top small businesses in the country for their contributions to the community and the local economy
Srivastava is being recognized by the Small Business Administration this week at a virtual conference in Washington.
He says he is grateful and overwhelmed by the acknowledgment.
