WASHINGTON (Gray DC) -- Senators and congressmen from both sides of the aisle are reacting to Speaker Paul Ryan's (R-WI) announcement that he will not seek re-election.
Ryan told reporters Wednesday that being House speaker was one of the two greatest honors of his life. The other honor -- being a husband and dad.
The Janesville, Wisc. native serves Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District. He was first elected to Congress in 1998. He previously served as chairman of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee before becoming Speaker in 2015.
Ryan also ran as Mitt Romney's running mate in the 2012 presidential campaign.
