WASHINGTON (Gray DC) -- The College Scorecard online database launched in September is designed to be a comprehensive guide to the costs and benefits of every college and university in the U.S. However, Grove City College President Paul McNulty said it isn't as comprehensive as you think.
He said Grove City College and several other institutions weren't included in the scorecard because they don't participate in the Title Four programs, those who receive federal student aid. McNulty said they don't take that money because they don't want to give up their independence. He said the country needs schools that aren't controlled by the government.
“I think the Department of Education needs time find a way to inform those who use that tool is listed or included in the score card and they can find information about schools not included in various ways,” McNulty said Monday.
President McNulty says this is something the Department of Education can fix within 24 hours. He added that families deserve to know that all the information isn’t included on the site.
